eter Daniel Pauls was born August 13, 1882, in Jennings, Kansas, to John and Lena (Stoehr) Pauls. He married Margaret Ann Duesberg, daughter of Theodore and Anne Marie (Zivingman) Duesberg, on August 23,1916. They made their home in Leoville, Kansas, and were the parents of eight children. Peter did carpentry work until starting Pauls Furniture and Undertaking in Selden in 1925. He moved his family to Selden in 1938 to a brick home he built for them. He was always very active in all civic organizations and served as mayor of Selden for a number of years. In honor of his involvement in the Selden Community, the city park was named after him.
